Artisan & Tinsmith Karen Hurd at Christiana Historical Society
The Christiana Historical Society invites you to its monthly meeting which always begins with a guest speaker from our lecture series covering a wide variety of fascinating topics.
On Thursday, April 27th, join us as elder tinsmith Karen Hurd recounts stories from 50 years of using traditional techniques & tools to handcraft beautiful artisanal tinwares from America’s past. Hurd has been recognized nationally for her work including magazine features, as well as being an invited guest to the White House during the Clinton administration for providing hand-crafted tin ornaments for their Christmas tree. She hopes her work and stories will inspire others to learn about the American tinsmiths, tin peddlers, tinkers and tinners of the past while bringing joy and appreciation of tin to users of the present!
