This program will educate and entertain people of all backgrounds about the rich contributions of Black composers and poets to American culture.
Featuring student performers alongside professional musicians and poets, this family friendly program will delight people of all ages.
Featured musicians include violinist Dr. Michael Jamanis, cellist Christian Sands, and percussionist Matt Woodson–with a special appearance by noted Lancaster pianist Frances Veri. Students from the Music For Everyone Sound Factory will also perform a series of short quartets.
This program also includes jazz improvisations and classical music, including a world premiere by Dr. Maria Thompson Corley.
Dr. Amanda Kemp of Theatre for Transformation and youth performers from Bright Side Opportunities Center’s STEM will perform poetry by Langston Hughes and others.
