Girls On The Run Limitless Potential Breakfast
GOTR’s Limitless Potential Breakfast event is open to ALL needing a morning of inspiration, connection, and motivation. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local business and community leaders while raising critical funding for the GOTR program and ultimately provide a lifelong impact on local girls and their families. This year’s event is set to be truly exceptional as we have secured Alison Mariella Désir, the iconic figure in running, as our keynote speaker. Alison is multi-talented: a founder, a doer, an activist, a connector, a visionary and an unapologetically straightforward communicator with a passion for movement, mental health, and racial equity. Alison is the author of Running While Black: Finding Freedom in a Sport That Wasn’t Built for Us. Running While Black draws on Désir’s experience as an endurance athlete, activist, and mental health advocate to explore why the seemingly simple, human act of long distance running for exercise and health has never been truly open to Black people. Weaving historical context—from the first recreational running boom to the horrific murder of Ahmaud Arbery—together with her own story of growth in the sport, Désir unpacks how we got here and advocates for a world where everyone is free to safely experience the life-changing power of movement. Along with being included in several event ticket options, copies of Running While Black: Finding Freedom in a Sport That Wasn’t Built for Us, will be available for purchase at the breakfast.
