Saturday, March 5th at 1 p.m.
Sunday, March 6 at 1 pm.
Join us for our seasonal Bioblitz of Native Lands County Park where we will identify everything around us including local plants, animals, bugs, birds, and more. iNaturalist and Seek are free applications for most smart devices that aid in species identification. Tutorials will be given to guide you step by step through this process. These apps use each photo to give species suggestions based on similar appearance and commonly found critters in the specific area where the photograph was captured. If you do not have a smart device, don’t worry! We have supplies where you can log on paper with pencil exactly what you see, and field guides to help you identify what you drew.
This is our first full weekend Bioblitz event, so bundle up and let’s explore our wintery ecosystem on either Saturday or Sunday the first weekend in March! We will begin at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage’s new Nature Space at 1:00 PM. The hike to Native Lands is rated moderate to easy, but may be slippery, wet, and muddy so please dress appropriately. This event is free and open to all ages but may be cancelled due to weather. Please make sure to double check our Facebook page or Event Calendar before arrival.
Safety Protocols and Participation Requirements:
- Properly fitting face masks or coverings are required for all individuals ages 3+ during group programs both indoors and outdoors at both of our visitor centers.
