Mark Arbogast, retired PPL land manager
Built between 1930 – 1931, Safe Harbor Dam was the last of the four hydro-electric dams to be constructed on the lower Susquehanna. Today this powerplant generates electricity for up to 400,000 homes.
Join us as retired PPL land manager, Mark Arbogast, shares the story of the construction of the dam and the village that was built to house its employees. Mark’s presentation features fascinating images from vintage postcards and photographs that reveal the tremendous effort and manpower needed to harness the energy of the mighty Susquehanna.
