With Double Devonshire Cream, Maple and Berry Salsa
Makes 1 Dozen Here’s the perfect way to introduce fresh fruit and carbs to your Sunday brunch without overdoing it. These tiny two-bite beauties are semi-homemade, simple to assemble and easy to change up. Whether you stick with simple fresh fruit and rich whipped cream, or go in a savory direction, mini-waffles are fun with every bite.Ingredients
- 1 dozen Mini-Waffles, (I used maple-flavored)
- 1 jar Devonshire Cream, whipped (heavy whipping cream is fine, too)
- 1 Tbsp. Maple Sugar
- 1-1/2 cups Fresh Berries, some gently sliced into smaller pieces
- 1 Tbsp. Maple Syrup (preferably the real deal)
Directions
Toast the waffles briefly, just to the point where they are slightly crisp. You don’t want them to dry out to the point where they become hard. Allow to cool somewhat. Mix the maple sugar and maple syrup with the berries. Top waffles with a dollop of the whipped cream and then a spoonful of the fresh berries. Serve immediately for best results.
