At Moravian Manor Communities (MMC), engagement includes more than programming. It is part of who we are. Residents and staff are encouraged to stay connected, contribute their gifts, and remain active not only on campus, but throughout the wider community. That philosophy is one reason why many residents choose Moravian Manor Communities in the first place. Nestled in the borough of Lititz, with downtown just a short stroll away, MMC offers the rare opportunity to enjoy campus life while remaining closely connected to the character, events and relationships that make Lititz special. 

On campus, MMC offers many volunteer opportunities, from serving on a committee to helping transport residents residing in care neighborhoods to activities. Residents stay actively involved through committees such as Education, Community Life and the Lamplighters Auxiliary. The Lamplighters have been lighting the way since 1985 with ongoing fundraising and awareness efforts for MMC’s Benevolent Care Fund that aids residents who are unable to pay for their care through no fault of their own yet continue to receive the quality care and support they need. Residents also share their compassion through programs like No Resident Dies Alone, whereby trained volunteers sit vigil with residents near the end of life when family members are unable to be present.

Residents are deeply engaged in the local community through volunteer work with the Lititz Welcome Center, Matthew 25 and Meals on Wheels. They also support organizations such as Blessings of Hope and Stitching for Hope, an initiative through which residents extend their impact well beyond Lancaster County by creating handmade comforters for people displaced by war and natural disasters. These comforters are distributed worldwide through the Mennonite Central Committee. 

Our partnership with the Lititz recCenter further reflects that commitment, creating even more ways for residents to stay active, involved and connected. Staying engaged is vital to healthy aging. Meaningful involvement supports emotional well-being, encourages movement, stimulates the mind and fosters a strong sense of purpose. Just as important, it reinforces the bonds between MMC and the local community that supports us in so many ways. When residents and staff participate beyond our campus, they help create a culture that is vibrant, generous, and outward looking.
