Community Engagement: On and Off Campus

At Luthercare, we believe community engagement is vital for healthy, purposeful living. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to creating opportunities and experiences that support every dimension of well-being. We strive to provide opportunities for residents to build meaningful connections, share their talents, pursue lifelong interests and remain actively involved in causes that matter to them.
On campus, community engagement is fostered through a vibrant lifestyle program focused on each resident’s wellbeing journey that includes social, emotional, physical, spiritual, volunteer and intergenerational opportunities. Many residents take part in clubs, committees, resident-led initiatives and programs that help shape community life. We believe a strong sense of belonging comes from actively pursuing your passions and connecting with others.

Residents also have many opportunities to enjoy off-campus experiences with friends and neighbors. From restaurant outings, shopping excursions and local sightseeing to hiking adventures, theater performances, concerts and cultural attractions, there is something for every interest. Opportunities range from local excursions to multi-day trips to destinations such as New York’s Finger Lakes wine country and the Jersey Shore, among others. Residents may also participate in international travel experiences, creating opportunities for adventure, lifelong learning and meaningful connections along the way.
We also believe that thriving communities create better environments for older adults and future generations alike. Therefore, we encourage residents to look beyond our campuses and remain active participants in the greater community through volunteer service, local partnerships, educational opportunities, civic engagement and intergenerational experiences.
As a longstanding supporter and sponsor of organizations such as Venture Lititz and the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Luthercare actively invests in initiatives that promote economic vitality, community development and leadership growth. These partnerships help strengthen the places where our residents live while fostering meaningful connections between generations, businesses, nonprofits and community leaders.

Through opportunities like these, residents continue making a positive impact while building connections throughout Lancaster County and beyond. Our residents will contribute more than 13,000 volunteer hours alone this year, supporting dozens of organizations throughout Lancaster County. One such opportunity exists with the Wittel Farm Growing Project – a ministry of the Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania through which crops are harvested and donated to those in need. The Project has created opportunities for residents to plant, tend and harvest produce while supporting local food security efforts and participating in meaningful, purpose-driven activities.
Luthercare’s senior living communities also welcome visitors to their campuses by hosting events that are designed to bring residents, families, friends and community members together. Throughout the year, our communities offer a variety of educational, cultural and seasonal events, including a Book Fest, Strawberry Festival, storytelling programs, educational speaker presentations, Community Attic Treasures and Fall Fest sales, Holiday Bazaar and other special events. These gatherings reflect our commitment to fostering meaningful connections and creating opportunities for engagement both within our communities and throughout the broader community.
That welcoming spirit is also reflected in our chef-inspired dining venues that have the feel of your favorite full-service restaurant with delicious made-from-scratch items, including signature dishes and regional favorites. All are open to the public, including Coffee & Cork, a cozy gathering place offering specialty coffee drinks, handcrafted cocktails and a creative bar menu, and Chophouse 300, where premium entrées are complemented by expertly selected wine pairings.
Ultimately, our goal is to create a community where people feel connected, valued and encouraged to continue making a difference – living with purpose, building relationships, serving others and contributing to the wellbeing of our campuses and beyond.
