Homestead Village is a nonprofit “Life Plan Community” designed for adults aged 62+ who want to live actively, independently and with confidence … today and in the years ahead.  Everything we do is guided by one idea that sets us apart: THRIVE WHERE YOU ARE^®.

This philosophy guides how our community is designed, how services are delivered, and how residents experience everyday life. Rather than asking people to fit into a rigid care model, THRIVE WHERE YOU ARE^® means we strive to bring support, opportunities and services to residents, thus enabling individuals and couples to remain in the homes they love as long as it is safe, supportive and dignified to do so. When needs change in ways that call for a different level of care, we partner closely with residents and families to ensure thoughtful transitions are made that continue to honor comfort, dignity and quality of life.

At Homestead Village, residents don’t simply enjoy volunteer opportunities, they create them! From the Library Committee to the Gift Shoppe, The Auxiliary and Community Way partners such as Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development, there are many ways to get involved. For example, earlier this year, a group of 23 Homestead Village residents brought learning to life by organizing and hosting a memorable field trip at Rader Park for Ms. Aubree Lockard’s fifth-grade class from Rohrerstown Elementary School. What made the day especially meaningful was that it was entirely resident-driven and served as a reflection of the creativity, passion and lifelong commitment to learning that continues to define life at Homestead Village.

The field trip was thoughtfully structured to blend exploration, science and fun. Students began with a bus tour to visit the nearly 400-year-old Grant Noll Sycamore tree on Old Tree Drive, then followed the path of Brubaker Run as it winds through the community. Upon arrival at Rader Park, they rotated through interactive learning stations, including Stream Studies, Water Quality Testing, and Nature Walks and Crafts. After lunch at the pavilion, the group gathered for a special presentation by Lisa Sanchez of Lancaster County Parks, who shared stories about local wildlife and introduced students to animal pelts from the region.

Opportunities such as this are communicated through our traditional calendars and message boards, as well as the online “APP” to communicate with residents.  From daily menus, events and calendars, to meeting minutes, forms and directories, the UniGuest app is a one-stop location for a wide variety of information!
